Contemporary Cantata
Based on the Chant and Hymn of Gratitude, Contemporary Cantata is an inspiring and invigorating flute choir concert piece.
Contemporary Cantata opens with the alto and bass flutes passing back and forth leading into the first rendition of the hymn with entire flute choir. This is followed by an invigorating dance based on the thematic material, after which the tempo slows to an Andante and features 1st and 2nd flutes in a cadenza-like fashion.
The 2nd and final dance has all the flutes passing 16th note figures in 9/8 time between them. Contemporary Cantata ends with a powerful and majestic rendition of Hymn of Gratitude as it utilizes the forces of the entire flute choir.
